Aftershoot is an artificial intelligence-powered software platform designed specifically for professional photographers to automate the post-production workflow. The tool handles three core stages of image processing—culling, editing, and retouching—and also provides client delivery capabilities. After a photographer uploads a shoot’s raw images, the culling module uses machine learning to analyze each photo for technical quality, sharpness, facial expressions, and composition. It can reduce a dataset of thousands of images to a select set of the best shots in a matter of minutes, with the option to adjust the strictness of selection. The editing function allows photographers to train the AI on their personal color grading and tonal preferences by providing a small sample of reference images. Once the style profile is created, Aftershoot applies the same edits consistently across every photo in the gallery, ensuring that skin tones, exposure, contrast, and color casts are uniform. The retouching component goes beyond basic adjustments by automatically detecting and smoothing skin imperfections, reducing glare on glasses, removing stray hair strands, and softening backgrounds while preserving natural texture and depth. Users can control the intensity of each retouch area separately. After finishing the edit and retouch passes, the software includes a built-in online gallery system where photographers can invite clients to view, download, and order prints or digital files directly. The platform supports face detection and automatic tagging, batch renaming, and export to popular formats like JPEG and TIFF.
