About this website

The American Beverage Association, formerly known as the American Beverage Association and before that the National Soft Drink Association, is the trade organization representing the non-alcoholic beverage industry in the United States, headquartered in Washington. Founded in 1918, the association represents beverage producers, bottlers, distributors, and suppliers across all categories of non-alcoholic drinks including carbonated soft drinks, bottled water, fruit juices and juice drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks, ready-to-drink teas and coffees, and sparkling waters. Member companies include The Coca-Cola Company, PepsiCo, Keurig Dr Pepper, and hundreds of independent bottling and distribution companies. The association advocates on public policy issues including sugar taxes and sweetened beverage excise levies proposed at state and municipal levels, recycling and container deposit legislation, federal dietary guidelines for beverage consumption, food additive safety reviews by the Food and Drug Administration, and beverage marketing and advertising standards. Through its Balance Calories Initiative, the industry has committed to reducing beverage calories consumed per person across the American population through smaller portion sizes, reduced-calorie product innovation, and consumer education promoting calorie awareness and balanced beverage choices.
