About this website

AnyDesk is a remote desktop application enabling users to access and control computers from anywhere. Founded in 2014 by Philipp Weiser, Andreas Mahler, and Daniel Haschits in Stuttgart, Germany. Acquired by Tenable in December 2023 for $185 million. Serves over 170 million users worldwide. Uses proprietary DeskRT video codec for low-latency screen transmission. Key features: remote desktop: access and control any computer (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS) from another device. See the remote screen, control mouse and keyboard, transfer files. DeskRT codec: proprietary video compression designed for graphical user interfaces. Transmits only changed pixels, resulting in very low bandwidth (as low as 100 KB/s) and latency (under 16ms). Cross-platform: native clients for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, FreeBSD, Raspberry Pi. File transfer: drag and drop files between local and remote machines. Clipboard sync. Session recording: record sessions for auditing and training. File transfer logging. Customization: white-label with custom logo, welcome message, alias. Custom color schemes. Address book: manage remote contacts. See online status. One-click connection. Groups and tags. AnyDesk ID: each device gets a unique numeric ID. Connect by entering the ID. Custom aliases. Unattended access: configure remote devices with a password. No acceptance needed on remote end. Two-factor authentication. Permission profiles: define access levels (screen sharing, mouse control, keyboard, file transfer, audio). Session permissions: remote user must approve each access type. TLS 1.2 encryption. RSA 2048 key exchange. Performance: up to 60 fps. Adaptive resolution. C++/Delphi. Proprietary with free tier.
