btop System Resource Monitor

btop (formerly bpytop and bashtop) is a free and open-source resource monitor that shows usage and stats for processor, memory, disks, network, and processes in a beautifully designed terminal user interface. Originally created by aristocratos (a developer from Sweden) in 2019 as bashtop (a Bash script), the project was rewritten in Python as bpytop, and finally rewritten in C++ as btop for maximum performance. The C++ version was released in 2021 and quickly became one of the most popular terminal system monitors, with over 20,000 stars. Key features: beautiful TUI: the interface features a modern, polished design with smooth animations, color gradients, and responsive layout that adapts to terminal size. Three-panel layout (CPU, memory, network on top, process list below) with mouse support for clicking, scrolling, and selecting. CPU monitoring: per-core CPU usage with a scrolling graph, CPU frequency, temperature sensors, and core count. Supports up to 128 cores. Memory: RAM and swap usage with detailed breakdown of used, cached, and available memory. Disk I/O: read and write speeds for each disk, with configurable auto-rescaling graphs. Network: download and upload speeds with real-time line graphs.
