China UnionPay Co Ltd is the national bankcard association of China, established in 2002 and headquartered in Shanghai with approval from the People Bank of China. The organization is responsible for building and operating the unified national bankcard interbank information exchange network that enables interconnection between all commercial banks in China. UnionPay cards represent the largest bankcard brand by issuance volume in China, and the UnionPay network covers all domestic regions as well as over one hundred countries and territories internationally. The core businesses include bankcard interbank information switching, fund settlement, and the formulation of bankcard technical standards. UnionPay online payment provides cardholders with convenient internet payment services, while the UnionPay Cloud QuickPass mobile application offers integrated payment functions including bankcard management, transfers, QR code payments, and utility bill payments. China UnionPay has actively expanded into international markets with UnionPay cards widely accepted across many overseas destinations, serving as essential payment infrastructure for hundreds of millions of cardholders and tens of millions of merchants across China and beyond.
