ChordChord is a web-based tool designed for music makers to generate, edit, and export chord progressions. It serves as a practical aid in songwriting by allowing users to quickly build harmonic sequences, hear them in real time, and refine the arrangement before finalizing a piece. The core functionality revolves around an interactive chord progression generator: users can select a key, choose a style or template, and the tool produces a series of chords that fit musically. Each chord can be individually modified—changing its quality (major, minor, diminished, etc.), inversion, or voicing—to match the intended mood or structure. The generated progression is displayed visually as a timeline, and users can drag, add, or delete chords to reshape the harmony. The real-time audio playback is a central feature: every change to the chord sequence is immediately audible through the browser, using built-in MIDI sounds or a connected virtual instrument. This instant feedback loop helps users experiment with different harmonic movements without needing external hardware or software. Once the progression is satisfactory, ChordChord offers multiple export options. The most common is MIDI export, which generates a standard MIDI file that can be opened in any digital audio workstation (DAW) or notation software.
