CopilotKit is a frontend framework designed for building agentic applications that integrate large language models (LLMs) or AI agents directly into user-facing interfaces. It acts as a full-stack solution that connects any agentic backend to a real-time, interactive frontend, enabling seamless collaboration between users and AI systems within actual applications. The core of its functionality revolves around the AG-UI (Agent–User Interaction) protocol, a general-purpose, bi-directional communication layer that links user applications with agent backends. This protocol allows developers to maintain full control over the user interface while granting agents access to real-time application context, such as user inputs, live data, and UI state.
