Day of AI

Day of AI is a free educational initiative developed by MIT RAISE (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education) that delivers comprehensive artificial intelligence literacy curricula and professional development programs for K-12 schools. The program is designed to help students, teachers, and school administrators understand, question, and use AI responsibly. At its core, Day of AI offers a hands-on, freely accessible curriculum that covers foundational AI concepts, ethical considerations, real-world applications, and creative project-based learning. The curriculum is structured for different grade levels, from elementary through high school, and includes lesson plans, activities, coding exercises, and assessments that require no prior AI experience. Topics range from how AI systems work (machine learning, neural networks, data training) to critical thinking about bias, privacy, and societal impact. Students can build simple AI models, analyze datasets, and evaluate AI-generated outputs. Teachers are supported through multiple professional development pathways. Day of AI provides live online workshops, self-paced modules, and in-person training sessions that equip educators with the knowledge and confidence to teach AI literacy.
