About this website
The Electronic Components Industry Association, abbreviated ECIA, is the trade association representing the electronic components supply chain in North America, formed in 2011 through the merger of the Electronic Components Association and the National Electronic Distributors Association. Headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, ECIA represents manufacturers, distributors, and manufacturers representatives involved in the supply of electronic components including semiconductors, passive components such as resistors and capacitors, electromechanical parts including connectors and switches, and display modules. The electronic components distribution channel in North America generates over forty billion dollars in annual revenue, supplying parts to manufacturers of computers, smartphones, automotive electronics systems, industrial control equipment, medical devices, aerospace and defense systems, and telecommunications infrastructure. ECIA maintains industry statistics through its INFOcloud platform, publishes the ECIA Sales Trail reporting monthly component sales trends, organizes the annual Executive Conference bringing together senior leaders from major distributors including Arrow Electronics, Avnet, and Digi-Key, and develops standards for electronic commerce including the PIDX protocol and product information exchange formats used throughout the industry.
