About this website
The Ethiopian Pulses, Oilseeds and Spices Processors and Exporters Association, known as EPOSPEA, is a sectoral trade association representing Ethiopian companies that process and export pulses including chickpeas, lentils, beans and haricot beans, oilseeds such as sesame seeds, niger seeds and sunflower seeds, and spices like korarima, turmeric and fenugreek. Headquartered in Addis Ababa, EPOSPEA was established to promote the export of these high-value agricultural products that represent a significant share of Ethiopian foreign exchange earnings, second only to coffee. Ethiopia is Africa's largest producer of sesame seeds, particularly the Humera and Wollega varieties prized in international markets for their white color and high oil content. The association provides members with market information on international prices, quality standards for export markets, training on post-harvest handling and processing technologies, and facilitates participation in international food trade fairs such as Gulfood in Dubai and SIAL in Paris to connect Ethiopian exporters with global buyers.
