EUIPO eSearch is the European Union Intellectual Property Office’s primary database access tool for searching intellectual property rights registered in the European Union. The platform enables users to search trade marks, registered Community designs, owners, representatives, Bulletins, and Office decisions within a single application. It supports two main search modes: a basic “eSearch plus” interface and an advanced search option. Users can retrieve detailed records of EU trade marks (EUTMs) and registered Community designs (RCDs), including application number, filing date, registration date, expiration date, current status (e.g., registered, lapsed, opposed, invalidated), class headings under the Nice Classification for trade marks and Locarno Classification for designs, representation (word marks, figurative marks, shape marks, sound marks, etc.), colour claims, and priority claims. The system also displays images of the mark or design, contact details of the applicant or holder, representative information, and any recorded licenses or assignments. For trade marks, the search can filter by Vienna Classification of figurative elements, while for designs, the search can filter by product indication and classification. The platform offers a visual search function: users can drag and drop one image for trade mark searches and up to seven images for design searches, accepting JPG, PNG, GIF, and TIF formats. The image search uses computer vision algorithms to find visually similar marks or designs, with results sorted by similarity score. Users can also search by owner name, representative name, or application number, and combine multiple criteria with Boolean operators.
