About this website

Forma is a web-based platform that provides free, expert-level running form analysis through video upload and artificial intelligence. Users can record a short video of themselves running—typically on a treadmill or outdoors—and upload it directly to the site. The AI engine, built upon input from sports medicine professionals, then processes the video frame by frame to evaluate key biomechanical parameters such as cadence, stride length, foot strike pattern, vertical oscillation, arm swing symmetry, pelvic rotation, and torso lean. After analysis, the platform generates a detailed breakdown of the runner’s form, highlighting specific areas where inefficiencies or injury risks may exist. For each detected issue, Forma offers a set of actionable, evidence-based corrective exercises and drills. For example, if the system identifies excessive heel striking, it may suggest cues to land more on the midfoot along with targeted strength exercises for the calf and tibialis anterior. If asymmetry in hip drop is observed, it recommends glute activation drills and single-leg stability work. The analysis also provides a numerical score or grade for overall running form, allowing users to track improvements over time. The interface is minimalist and user-friendly: after uploading a video, the results page shows a side-by-side comparison of the original footage with annotated overlays that mark joint angles, ground contact times, and other metrics. Users can pause, rewind, and step through the video at their own pace to see exactly where adjustments are needed. Forma does not require any specialized hardware—any smartphone camera suffices—and there is no subscription fee for the basic analysis tier. The platform respects privacy by not storing user videos longer than necessary and by
