About this website

Geekbench is a cross-platform benchmark application designed to measure the performance of computer systems and mobile devices. It provides a standardized and objective way to evaluate the processing power of a device's central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) through a series of targeted tests. The software is available for multiple operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, making it a versatile tool for comparing hardware across different ecosystems. The CPU benchmark in Geekbench 6 assesses both single-core and multi-core performance. Single-core performance is critical for tasks that rely on a single thread, such as basic file operations, web browsing, or running lightweight applications. Multi-core performance, on the other hand, reflects how well a processor handles parallel workloads—common in video editing, 3D rendering, scientific simulations, and multitasking with many applications open simultaneously. The benchmark simulates real-world scenarios, including activities like checking email, taking photos, playing music, or performing all these tasks at once. It also includes newer workloads that test a device’s capability in emerging fields such as augmented reality (AR) and machine learning (ML). These tests evaluate how well a system can handle AR object detection, ML inference, and image classification, which are becoming increasingly important in modern software and hardware design. The GPU compute benchmark measures the graphics card’s ability to handle computationally intensive tasks that are not necessarily related to rendering visuals. These include image processing, video transcoding, scientific calculations, and machine learning model inference.
