GotoHTTP

GotoHTTP is a web-based remote control platform that enables users to access and manage remote computers directly from a browser without installing any client software on the controlling side. Unlike traditional peer-to-peer (C2C) remote desktop tools that require a software agent on every machine involved, GotoHTTP adopts a browser-to-computer (B2C) architecture. This means only the remote computer being controlled needs to run a small, lightweight agent program, while the user can initiate a session simply by opening a web page on any device with a modern browser—including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. The core use case is providing instant, browser-based remote desktop access for IT support, remote work, system administration, and collaborative troubleshooting. To start, a user downloads and runs the GotoHTTP agent on the target computer (the one to be controlled). The agent displays a unique Computer ID and an Access Code (a temporary password). The user then enters these credentials on the GotoHTTP website from any browser—whether on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone—to establish a secure connection and view the remote computer’s screen in real time. Key features include cross-platform support for both controlling and controlled devices, automatic session negotiation, and a minimal footprint on the remote machine. The agent is small (a few megabytes) and runs as a standalone executable without requiring administrator privileges in many cases, making it suitable for unattended access scenarios.
