Human or AI Game is a free online interactive challenge that tests a player’s ability to distinguish between images created by artificial intelligence and photographs of real humans. Each game round presents the user with five consecutive questions. For each question, a single image is displayed on screen, accompanied by two answer options: “🤖 AI Generated” and “👨 Real Human.” The player must examine the visual details—such as lighting, skin texture, background consistency, facial proportions, and subtle artifacts—to decide whether the image was produced by an AI model (for example, a generative adversarial network or a diffusion model like DALL·E or Midjourney) or captured with a camera of a living person. After selecting an answer, the player receives immediate feedback indicating whether the choice was correct, and the correct answer is revealed. The game is structured as a social study: every week, the aggregated results of all players are published for academic and research purposes. This means that participants are not only entertaining themselves but also contributing to real‑world data on how well humans can detect synthetic imagery. The difficulty of the images is calibrated to include both obvious AI‑generated pictures (e.g., those with distorted hands, unnatural eyes, or inconsistent shadows) and highly realistic ones that even experts may struggle to classify.
