iA Presenter is a specialized desktop application designed for creating and delivering presentations with a strong emphasis on text-based storytelling and minimal visual overhead. Unlike traditional slideware that forces users to arrange elements on a canvas, iA Presenter treats the presentation as a living document where every slide is derived from a plain text outline. Users write their entire narrative in a single editor, and the application automatically parses the structure into slides based on simple formatting cues — such as hitting Return three times to insert a slide break or deleting a break to merge two slides. This workflow allows writers to focus on the logic and flow of their argument without being distracted by layout decisions. The application offers two distinct modes: “Write It” and “Show It.” In “Write It” mode, the editor displays the full text of the speech, including speaker notes that are hidden from the audience. These notes can contain regular text, which remains visible only to the presenter, while headlines and key points are automatically promoted to slide titles. This separation helps the presenter rehearse naturally and internalize the content without reading from cue cards. The “Show It” mode transforms the outline into a clean, visually consistent slide deck where images and text blocks are placed with a predefined design system that adapts to the content. Users can drag and drop images, and the tool automatically adjusts typography, spacing, and color schemes to maintain visual harmony. One of the core features is the “Turbostart” function, which accepts raw text copied from any source — a document, an email, or a brainstorm list — and instantly converts it into a rough slide structure.
