About this website

Icinga is a vendor-neutral open source infrastructure monitoring platform founded in 2009 as a Nagios fork, now developed by Icinga GmbH and built for hybrid environments where organizations need complete ownership and flexibility over their monitoring stack. The platform spans six fundamental capabilities that address every aspect of monitoring. Infrastructure Monitoring tracks servers, networks, applications, and services across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. Monitoring Automation enables configuration management, deployment pipelines, custom workflows, and API-driven processes that adapt to operational needs. The notification system delivers timely alerts via email, Slack, SMS, and webhooks with intelligent escalation rules. Metrics and Logs integrates OpenTelemetry-compatible metrics and structured log data for correlation analysis. Cloud Monitoring provides native support for Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and VMware infrastructure. Analytics transforms monitoring data into intuitive visuals through Icinga Web 2 dashboards and Grafana integration. Enterprise features include high availability clustering, multi-tenancy, scalability for large environments, and role-based access control. The Icinga Director module provides configuration as code with REST API automation. Enterprise partners include NETWAYS, Wuerth Phoenix, Arctiq, SOL1, VanTosh, and open-i. The project maintains active development with version 2.16 and serves as a popular alternative to Nagios, PRTG, and SolarWinds for organizations prioritizing open source ownership and community-driven development.
