About this website
JEDEC is a global standardization body for the microelectronics industry, formerly known as the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council. It was founded in 1958 under the Electronic Industries Alliance and became an independent trade association in 1999. JEDEC develops open standards used throughout semiconductor manufacturing, including the families of memory specifications such as DDR SDRAM, LPDDR, GDDR, and flash storage interfaces, as well as standards for component packaging, thermal measurement, and reliability testing. Its member companies include major chip makers, memory manufacturers, and equipment suppliers who collaborate in technical committees. The published documents define electrical and mechanical requirements that let parts from different suppliers interoperate. Engineers use these specifications when designing motherboards, graphics cards, smartphones, and servers.
