About this website
A free, open-source content delivery network for open-source projects that serves over 342 billion requests and 19,851 terabytes of bandwidth per month across 540 plus points of presence. The CDN was founded by Dmitriy Akulov in 2012 and has become one of the most widely used public CDNs, powering over one million active open-source projects with a 99.46 percent cache hit ratio, peak throughput of 135,177 requests per second, and maximum bandwidth of 62,247 megabits per second. The infrastructure uses a multi-CDN architecture combining four CDN providers including Cloudflare, Fastly, G-Core, and IBM NS1, with three DNS providers for redundancy and automatic failover. Smart load balancing routes each request to the fastest available CDN based on real-time performance data, health checks, and geographic proximity, with a multi-layer cache strategy spanning edge nodes, regional caches, and origin storage. The platform serves files from npm and GitHub repositories, supporting ESM module delivery through a dedicated subdomain, automatic minification of JavaScript and CSS files with on-demand generation when no minified version exists, version aliasing with semantic versioning ranges, directory browsing with trailing slash, file combining for bundling multiple scripts into a single request, and source map support. A Data API provides package metadata including entry points, file listings with sizes and integrity hashes, and npm download statistics. Custom CDN endpoints extend service to ecosystems including CocoaPods, Ghost, Pyodide, and Fontsource. The top packages include swiper with 18.9 billion requests, bootstrap with 15.4 billion, prebid with 7.2 billion, and hls.js with 6.4 billion. The project is MIT licensed.
