About this website
K0s is an open source, zero-friction Kubernetes distribution that ships as a single binary with no host dependencies, designed to make Kubernetes deployment as simple as possible while remaining fully CNCF-certified and production-ready. Developed by Mirantis, the project eliminates the need for complex setup procedures by packaging the Kubernetes control plane, kubelet, container runtime (containerd), and all necessary components into a single static binary that runs on any Linux system without requiring pre-installed packages or libraries. K0s supports multiple deployment topologies including single-node clusters for development and testing, multi-node clusters with separate control plane and worker nodes, and high-availability control planes with multiple controller nodes. The distribution includes built-in support for the Konnectivity tunnel server for secure control plane communication with worker nodes behind firewalls, Calico as the default container network interface (CNI) with support for Kube-router and custom CNIs, and the Kubernetes Cloud Provider interface for integration with cloud provider services. K0s Airgap enables deployment in air-gapped environments with no internet access through pre-packaged image bundles. The k0sctl command-line tool automates cluster deployment across multiple hosts using SSH, handling the entire process from initial installation to certificate management and worker node joining.
