About this website
Kdenlive (KDE Non-Linear Video Editor) is a free and open-source multi-track video editing application offering professional-grade features for video production, effects, and color correction. Developed by the KDE community since 2003 by Jason Wood, with contributions from dozens of developers, Kdenlive has become one of the most popular open-source video editors. Key features include: multi-track timeline (unlimited video and audio tracks with customizable track height, locking, muting, and hiding for complex project organization), clip management (drag and drop clips from project bin to timeline, trim, split, and resize clips with ripple and roll edits, and group clips for synchronized editing), effects and transitions (over 100 effects including color correction, chroma key, blur, sharpen, distort, and audio effects with keyframable parameters, plus configurable transitions between clips), MLT Framework (powered by the MLT multimedia framework providing professional video processing with support for FFmpeg-supported codecs and formats), proxy editing (generate low-resolution proxy clips for smooth editing on low-end hardware with automatic full-resolution render on export), keyframe animation (animate effect parameters over time with linear, curve, and discrete interpolation for smooth transitions and effects), audio mixing (multi-track audio mixing with volume envelopes, panning, muting, and audio effects including normalization, noise reduction, and equalization), titler (built-in title creation tool with text, shapes, gradients, shadows, and animation for professional lower-thirds and title cards), color scopes (waveform, vectorscope, RGB parade, and histogram monitors for professional color grading and correction), render profiles (configurable render settings for YouTube, Vimeo, DVD, and custom output formats including H.264, H.265, VP9, and ProRes), and cross-platform (Linux, Windows, and macOS via KDE Frameworks and Qt).
