Kigen Color Generator

Kigen Color Generator is a minimal web tool for creating color palettes from a starting color. The interface presents a color picker and a real-time preview area where users can adjust hue, saturation, and lightness values using slider controls. The generator produces a 5-color palette based on color theory principles, offering options for complementary, analogous, triadic, and split-complementary harmonies. Each generated color displays its hex code, RGB values, and HSL values in a compact swatch card. Users can lock individual colors they want to preserve and click a regenerate button to get new suggestions for the unlocked positions. The tool includes a random palette generator that picks colors algorithmically, useful for overcoming creative block. Once satisfied, users can copy the entire palette as a comma-separated list of hex codes, or as CSS custom properties ready to paste into a stylesheet. The tool is part of Kigen Design, a platform that also offers a design system plugin and color tools for Figma. The entire color generator runs client-side in JavaScript, meaning no data is sent to servers and the tool works offline after the first load. The interface is intentionally sparse, focusing on the core task of color generation without distracting options. A dark mode toggle switches the UI to a dark background, reducing glare during extended use.
