About this website

Liquibase is a community-led database change management and schema migration solution that has been downloaded over 100 million times, making it one of the most widely adopted database DevOps tools in the world. Originally created in 2006 by Nathan Voxland, the project supports over 60 database platforms including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, Snowflake, Databricks, CockroachDB, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, and Azure SQL Database. Database changes are defined in SQL, XML, JSON, or YAML changelog files that serve as version control for schema evolution, enabling teams to order changes, standardize development workflows, and control when, where, and how changes are deployed across environments. The tool provides rollback capabilities for safe undo operations, diff comparison between databases, pre-condition checks before applying changes, and context and label based filtering for targeted deployments. The Community edition is free and open source, while the commercial Secure edition adds database rollback automation, drift detection, policy enforcement, operational reports, and AI safe governance for the emerging era of AI agents making database changes. Founded by Liquibase Inc, the company is headquartered in Austin, Texas and maintains a global user community. The tool integrates with CI/CD pipelines including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps, and provides official language libraries for Java, Python, Node.js, and Go.
