Low-Code App Builder Platform

Budibase is an open source low-code platform for building business applications, internal tools, forms, and portals, designed to help teams create functional software without traditional development overhead. The platform combines a visual app builder, database management, authentication, and automated deployment into a single workflow. A built-in database allows users to define tables with typed columns, relationships between tables, formula fields, and attachment fields, while also supporting connections to external data sources including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, REST APIs, SQL Server, Oracle, DynamoDB, Airtable, Google Sheets, S3, ArangoDB, CouchDB, Elasticsearch, and Supabase. The design interface uses a component-based approach where screens are assembled from cards, containers, data tables, forms, buttons, charts, and navigation elements, with reusable design themes controlling colors, typography, spacing, and component styling across the application. Automation features enable users to build triggered workflows that respond to events such as row creation, button clicks, time-based schedules, app installation, or webhook invocations, with action steps including sending emails, running data queries, updating rows, calling external APIs through HTTP requests, executing JavaScript code blocks, and controlling flow with conditional branching. Role-based access control defines app-level, screen-level, and row-level permissions, ensuring users see only authorized data. Self-hosting is available through Docker and Kubernetes for organizations requiring full data control, while the managed cloud option provides automatic scaling and maintenance. The platform supports custom CSS and JavaScript injection for advanced customization, plus integration with Zapier, Make, Integromat, and webhook endpoints for connecting to third-party services.
