About this website
LXQt is a lightweight Qt-based desktop environment for Linux and other Unix-like systems, formed as the merger of LXDE-Qt and Razor-qt projects in 2013. Developed by the LXQt team including Hong Jen Yee and Jerome Leclanche, LXQt aims to provide a fast, modern, and lightweight desktop that uses less RAM and CPU than full-featured environments while offering a complete user experience. Key components include: LXQt Panel (configurable desktop panel with taskbar, application menu, system tray, clock, and over 20 pluggable applets including CPU monitor, volume control, and quick launch), PCManFM-Qt (Qt-based file manager with tabs, split view, thumbnails, custom actions, and mount management, forked from the original PCManFM), LXQt Session (session manager with autostart, logout, suspend, hibernate, and multi-monitor configuration), LXQt Config (centralized configuration center for appearance, brightness, keyboard, mouse, locale, and monitor settings), LXQt Runner (quick application launcher with calculator, web search, and URL detection), Openbox integration (default window manager integration with obconf-qt for window decoration and behavior configuration), KWin support (optional KWin window manager support for modern compositing effects including blur, shadows, and animations), SDDM (Simple Desktop Display Manager integration for graphical login), QTerminal (lightweight terminal emulator with tabs, splits, bookmarks, and color schemes), LXImage-Qt (fast image viewer with thumbnail bar, metadata display, and basic editing), FeatherPad (lightweight Qt-based text editor with syntax highlighting and tabs), QMPlay2 (media player based on Qt and FFmpeg), LXQt Archiver (archive manager supporting tar, zip, 7z, and RAR formats), and modularity (components can be used independently, allowing users to mix LXQt components with other desktop environments).
