About this website

MuseScore is a free and open-source music notation software for creating, playing, and printing sheet music. Originally developed by Werner Schweer in 2002, the project has grown into the world's most popular free music notation software with over 10 million users. The company (based in Stockholm) was acquired by Ultimate Guitar in 2018 and is now part of Muse Group, led by Eugene Muziek. Key features: score creation: create scores for any instrumentation, from solo piano to full orchestra. Supports treble, bass, alto, tenor, and percussion clefs. Unlimited staves and voices per staff. Note input: enter notes via mouse, computer keyboard, MIDI keyboard, or virtual piano palette. Real-time MIDI input with quantization. Guitar tablature alongside standard notation. Notation elements: dynamics (ppp through fff), articulations (staccato, accent, tenuto, fermata), ornaments (trill, grace notes), chord symbols, figured bass, lyrics (multiple verses), tempo markings, and rehearsal marks.
