About this website

Netdata is an open-source, real-time infrastructure monitoring and observability platform that provides high-resolution metrics collection, anomaly detection, and visualization with zero configuration. Founded by Costa Tsaousis in 2014, Netdata has over 72,600 stars as of 2026 and is designed to monitor everything from individual servers and containers to IoT devices and cloud infrastructure with per-second data granularity. Unlike traditional monitoring tools that require manual metric configuration, Netdata's auto-discovery engine automatically detects and monitors over 800 integrations out of the box, including: system metrics (CPU per core and per process, RAM usage with detailed breakdown, disk I/O per device and per mount point, network interfaces with per-NIC metrics, IPv4/IPv6 networking, IPC, context switches, interrupts, softirqs, uptime, entropy, kernel logs), container runtimes (Docker, containerd, Kubernetes pods and nodes, via cgroups and eBPF), databases (MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, CockroachDB, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Memcached, Oracle DB), web servers (Apache, nginx, nginx Plus, LiteSpeed, Tomcat, IIS), message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, NATS, Beanstalk), application runtimes (Java/JVM via JMX, Python via python.d, Node.js via node.d, Go), cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure via their respective monitoring APIs), and custom metrics via StatsD, Prometheus exposition format, or the Netdata API. Netdata Cloud provides centralized dashboards, alerting via 20+ notification channels (Slack, Discord, PagerDuty, Email, Telegram, Twilio, etc.), anomaly detection with machine learning (ML-trained per-metric baselines), and infrastructure topology mapping. The agent runs as a single daemon with under 1% CPU overhead.
