About this website

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council, abbreviated NEPC, is the government agency of Nigeria responsible for promoting and facilitating non-oil exports from Africa's most populous country. Established in 1976 and headquartered in Abuja, NEPC operates under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment with zonal offices across Nigeria's six geopolitical regions. Nigeria's economy has historically been dominated by crude oil exports which account for over ninety percent of foreign exchange earnings, and NEPC's mandate is to diversify export revenues by developing non-oil export sectors. Key non-oil export products promoted by NEPC include cocoa beans and cocoa products from the southwestern states of Ondo and Cross River, sesame seeds from Benue and Taraba states, cashew nuts from Kwara and Oyo states, hibiscus flowers, ginger, rubber, leather and leather products from Kano, and manufactured goods. NEPC administers the Export Expansion Grant scheme providing incentives to active exporters, offers Export Development Funds for product development and market entry, and operates the Zero Oil Plan aimed at growing non-oil exports to thirty billion dollars.
