Noctie is a chess training platform centered on an artificial intelligence that simulates human play across all skill levels, from absolute beginners to grandmasters. The core design focuses on replicating the natural patterns and behaviors of human opponents rather than playing like a traditional, perfect machine. This means the AI makes realistic opening choices, occasionally commits mistakes typical of human players, and varies its move timings to reflect thinking time as a human would. The system has been trained on billions of human versus human games and fine‑tuned over several years to achieve this lifelike behavior. Users begin by taking a rating test that helps Noctie calibrate its strength to match the player’s current ability, ensuring a challenging yet fair experience. Once matched, players can select from a wide range of common chess openings—such as the Italian Game, Sicilian Defense, Queen’s Gambit, and many others—and Noctie will respond with the most frequent human replies to those openings. This allows users to practice specific opening lines against realistic opposition. For more advanced training, players can also import their own opening repertoires or opening books, and Noctie will drill those lines by playing the expected human responses, enabling deep, repetitive practice of personal preparation. After each game, Noctie provides immediate feedback. It analyzes the moves played and generates customized puzzles derived directly from the positions that occurred during the match.
