About this website
PartyKit is an open-source deployment platform for real-time applications including AI agents, multiplayer experiences, local-first software, collaborative games, and interactive websites. The platform runs server code on a global edge network powered by Cloudflare, providing low-latency WebSocket connections to users worldwide. Development follows a simple four-step workflow: install the npm package, write server logic as a TypeScript class handling message and request events, run the local development server, then deploy to the edge with a single command. The architecture is standards-based, using WebSockets, the Fetch API, Request-Response patterns, and WebAssembly to guarantee interoperability with existing tools and frameworks. PartyKit integrates seamlessly with popular collaboration libraries including Y.js, Automerge, Replicache, XState, tldraw, and TinyBase, requiring no configuration to get real-time synchronization working. The platform is infrastructure agnostic, deploying alongside applications hosted on Vercel, Netlify, AWS, Cloudflare Pages, or fly.io without requiring a rewrite. PartyKit AI brings large language models and a vector database directly into the edge environment, enabling agents to respond in real time. Additional tools include Party.IO for Socket.IO-compatible backends and Cursor Party for adding multiplayer cursors to any application. The company joined Cloudflare to integrate its technology into the Cloudflare Workers platform. Endorsed by Brandon Dail, staff engineer at Discord, and David Khourshid, founder of Stately. Used by Stately Sky, ViteConf by StackBlitz, and Epic Web Dev by Kent C Dodds. Open source under the MIT license.
