PearOCR

PearOCR is a free, web-based optical character recognition (OCR) tool that converts images containing text into editable, copyable text directly in the browser. Unlike many online OCR services, PearOCR processes all image data locally on the user’s device, meaning no files are uploaded to any external server. This local processing approach enhances privacy and security, making it suitable for handling sensitive documents such as invoices, contracts, or personal notes. The tool supports a wide range of image input methods: users can click the “增加图像” (Add Image) button to select files from their device, use the “读剪贴板” (Read Clipboard) feature to paste an image directly from the clipboard, or simply press Ctrl+V to paste a screenshot or copied image. Once an image is loaded, PearOCR automatically detects the text region and performs recognition with support for multiple languages, including Simplified Chinese as the default option. The recognition engine is built on modern web technologies and runs entirely within the browser, leveraging WebAssembly or JavaScript-based OCR libraries to deliver fast and accurate results without requiring any installation. After recognition, the extracted text can be copied to the clipboard for use in other applications. Additionally, PearOCR offers export functions: users can export the recognized text as a PDF file (via the “导出为PDF” button) or as a DOCX/TXT file (via the “导出为docx/txt” button). The tool also includes batch processing capabilities—users can add multiple images and re-recognize all of them at once using the “重新识别所有图像” (Re-recognize All Images) button.
