About this website
qBittorrent is a free and open-source BitTorrent client designed as a lightweight, ad-free alternative to uTorrent. Created in 2005 by Christophe Dumez, the project is written in C++ using the Qt framework and the libtorrent-rasterbar library (developed by Arvid Norberg). It aims to provide a feature-rich yet lightweight torrent client without advertisements or bundled software. Key features: no advertisements: completely free of ads, spyware, and bundled installers, unlike uTorrent and BitTorrent which introduced ads. RSS feed support: subscribe to RSS feeds from torrent sites and automatically download new torrents matching user-defined filters (regex-based matching on title, quality, size). Sequential downloading: download files in order for streaming video while downloading. Web user interface: a full-featured web UI for remote control from any browser, managing downloads from a phone or another computer. Integrated search engine: built-in search powered by Python plugins that searches multiple torrent sites simultaneously. Category support: organize torrents into categories with custom save paths and automated management. Prioritization: set download and upload priority per file within a torrent, and per torrent within the queue. Bandwidth scheduling: schedule speed limits for specific days and times. Tracker management: supports UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, and WebSocket trackers, plus DHT for trackerless torrents and PEX. IPv6, proxy support. Encryption: protocol encryption for privacy. IP filtering. UPnP/NAT-PMP port forwarding. Cross-platform: Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD. C++/Qt. GPL-2.0.
