QOVES

QOVES provides a facial assessment tool that analyzes human facial features using computer vision and geometric morphometrics. The tool processes a front-facing photograph to detect over 70 facial landmarks, including the positions of the eyes, nose, mouth, jawline, cheekbones, and brow ridge. From these landmarks, it calculates a series of objective measurements such as facial symmetry ratios, interocular distance, nose width relative to face width, lip fullness, chin projection, mandibular angle, and the vertical proportions of the upper, middle, and lower thirds of the face. These measurements are compared against a reference database derived from a large sample of diverse ethnic populations, allowing the tool to output percentile rankings for each feature. For example, a user can see how their jaw width compares to the average for their age and gender group. The tool also generates a composite facial harmony score that weights individual features according to established aesthetic principles, such as the golden ratio and neoclassical canons. A detailed report is produced, breaking down strengths and areas where the face deviates from population norms, with visual annotations overlaid on the original photo to highlight specific measurements. The intended use cases include personal exploration of one’s own facial characteristics, pre- and post-consultation reference for cosmetic procedures (e.g., rhinoplasty, chin augmentation, cheek filler), academic research in facial aesthetics and anthropology, and as an educational resource for students learning about craniofacial morphology.
