Quill Rich Text Editor

Quill is a free, open source WYSIWYG rich text editor built for the modern web, maintained by the team at Slab and currently at version 2.0.3. With over 47,000 GitHub stars, it is used in production by LinkedIn, Miro, Grammarly, Mode Analytics, and Slab, as well as countless small projects and Fortune 500 enterprises alike. The editor features a modular architecture where every piece of functionality, from toolbars to formats to themes, can be added, removed, or replaced independently. The expressive API provides granular access to editor content, changes, and events through a consistent JSON data model that works deterministically as both input and output across all platforms. The latest version 2.0 release introduced significant improvements including better TypeScript support, a complete rewrite of the selection and composition handling, and enhanced tree shaking support for smaller bundles. Cross platform compatibility ensures consistent behavior and HTML output across desktops, tablets, and phones running all modern browsers. The editor ships with a Snow theme featuring a clean toolbar and a Bubble theme for inline editing, both fully customizable. Content formatting supports bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, headers, blockquotes, code blocks, lists with nesting, text direction including RTL, links, images, videos, and LaTeX formula rendering through KaTeX. The toolbar API allows custom controls, while the clipboard module provides clean paste from external sources.
