About this website
rclone is a command-line program for managing and synchronizing files across a wide variety of cloud storage providers and local file systems. Created by Nick Craig-Wood, rclone is often described as rsync for cloud storage, providing a unified interface for copying, moving, syncing, mounting, and serving files across more than 70 different cloud storage backends. Supported providers include Amazon S3, Google Drive, Google Cloud Storage, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, DigitalOcean Spaces, Mega, pCloud, Yandex Disk, FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, local filesystems, and many others. Key features include: bidirectional sync (keeping two locations in sync by detecting changes in both directions and resolving conflicts), copy and move operations (transferring files between any two storage backends, even if neither is local, with server-side copying where possible to avoid downloading and re-uploading), mount functionality (mounting cloud storage as a local filesystem via FUSE on Linux and macOS, or WinFSP on Windows), serve functionality (serving cloud storage via HTTP, WebDAV, FTP, SFTP, S3, or TCP protocols), encryption (Crypt remote for transparent client-side encryption of file names and contents before uploading to cloud storage), chunked uploads (splitting large files into chunks for resumable uploads), bandwidth limiting (controlling upload and download speeds with configurable rate limits and scheduling), file integrity checking (using checksums to detect corrupted transfers), file filtering (with include and exclude patterns based on glob, regex, or size), deduplication (finding and removing duplicate files), and a powerful configuration system (with support for multiple named remotes, each with independent settings). As of 2026, rclone has over 50,000 stars.
