About this website

A popular open-source badge service that provides concise, consistent, and legible status badges for software projects, widely recognized as the standard way to display metadata such as build status, test coverage, code quality scores, version numbers, download counts, license types, and social proof directly in README files, documentation sites, and project landing pages. The service supports hundreds of integrated services out of the box, including GitHub, npm, PyPI, Docker Hub, Travis CI, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Codecov, SonarQube, npm package downloads, GitHub release and tag versions, Discord, and Twitter, with each badge generated dynamically on each request to reflect current data. Badges are served as SVG images with consistent typography, color schemes, and layout across all badge types, ensuring a professional and uniform appearance regardless of the underlying data source. Beyond dynamic badges that fetch live data from external services, the platform also supports static badges for custom text and values, allowing teams to create any badge with arbitrary label, message, and color. The Badge-Maker NPM library enables programmatic badge generation within applications and CI pipelines, while the official Docker image allows organizations to self-host a private instance behind their firewall for internal metrics and air-gapped environments. The badge endpoint supports query parameters for custom colors, styles including flat, flat-square, for-the-badge, plastic, and social, custom logos from Simple Icons or any SVG, and link targets. Funded through Open Collective donations and sponsored infrastructure. MIT licensed. Copyright 2015-2026 Thaddee Tin and contributors.
