Tamagui is a React and React Native UI kit and styling engine designed to maximize performance and developer ergonomism across web, iOS, and Android from a single codebase. Version 2, the latest major release, delivers a complete styling and component system with an optimizing compiler that statically analyzes styles and hoists them at build time. The compiler extracts atomic CSS inference and flattens style objects, generating only the CSS rules actually used by the application, resulting in near-zero runtime overhead for styling on the web. The style engine supports typed style props, responsive design with media queries, and theme tokens that work identically on web and native. Theme generation supports component-specific overrides, sub-themes, and automatic dark mode inversion. The animation system is built on the driver pattern, using native animation drivers on React Native and CSS transitions or keyframes on web, ensuring smooth 60fps animations without JavaScript thread blocking. Over fifty production-ready components include Stack, Card, Button, Sheet, Dialog, Toast, Popover, DatePicker, Switch, Tabs, and Accordion. Each component supports size variants, theme variants, and responsive style variants controlled entirely through typed props. Server-side rendering is first-class with no flash of unstyled content.
