About this website

TanStack Table is a headless table engine and the most popular and most used data grid engine in the world, with over 1.7 billion total downloads, approximately 18 million weekly downloads on npm, and more than 28,000 GitHub stars. Created and maintained by Tanner Linsley with Kevin Van Cott and Riccardo Perra, the library provides all the hard parts of building data grids including sorting, filtering, faceting, grouping, aggregation, expansion, selection, column sizing, pinning, visibility, ordering, and pagination without taking over the markup or imposing any visual design. The headless architecture means developers bring their own HTML elements, CSS classes, and interaction patterns, allowing the table engine to render as semantic tables, card grids, virtualized panes, or spreadsheet-like layouts from the same core. The row model pipeline composes core rows, then opt-in filtered, sorted, grouped, expanded, and paginated row models into the exact data shape needed. State management is fully controlled, enabling URL-driven sorting and filters, server-side pagination and queries, and saved user preferences. The table core is framework agnostic with official adapters for React, Vue, Solid, Svelte, Qwik, Angular, Lit, Alpine, and Vanilla JavaScript. Server-side data is a first-class citizen, with pagination, sorting, and filters that can be local, controlled, URL-driven, or backed by any API. Virtualization stays the developer choice by pairing with TanStack Virtual for handling thousands of rows or columns without becoming a scroll container framework. The engine powers shadcn-style data table components at Vercel, accessible React Aria Components at Adobe, dense admin grids, and custom spreadsheet-style product surfaces.
