Waifu Labs is a web-based application powered by a neural network that generates custom anime-style portraits, referred to as waifus and husbandos. The core functionality revolves around an AI artist that learns user preferences through an interactive process divided into four steps. Users begin by selecting a base style from a set of pre-generated archetypes, then refine facial features, hair, clothing, and color schemes by choosing among multiple options presented in real time. The underlying model has been trained on a large dataset of anime illustrations to produce consistent, high-quality character designs. After each selection, the AI updates the portrait to reflect the user’s choices, allowing for iterative customization. The final output can be downloaded as a high-resolution image with no watermarks or usage restrictions. The tool is entirely free to use and does not require an account for basic generation. However, users can sign up to save their creations and access additional features, such as importing their custom characters into a separate game called Arrowmancer. Arrowmancer is a puzzle RPG that integrates personal waifu or husbando designs as playable characters, giving users the ability to see their creations come to life in an interactive environment. The game features its own roster of unique characters, but the import function allows for personalized gameplay. In version 2, Waifu Labs expanded its capabilities by introducing background generation—users can now choose from a variety of scenic backgrounds to accompany their character, making the portrait suitable for wallpapers or profile pictures.
