Wordy is a language learning platform that uses real movie and TV show clips as the primary teaching material. Unlike traditional courses that rely on artificial dialogues or textbook examples, Wordy immerses learners in authentic spoken language taken from popular films and series. The service supports over 20 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Croatian, Norwegian, Romanian, Lithuanian, and Ukrainian. Users begin by selecting a target language and then browse through a library of more than 15,000 short video clips. Each clip is a scene from a movie or TV show, ranging from a few seconds to about one minute. The clips are categorized by difficulty, theme, or popular shows, allowing learners to choose content that matches their interests and current level. When watching a clip, subtitles in both the original language and the user’s native language are displayed. Learners can click on any word in the subtitle to see its translation, pronunciation, and usage notes. This feature ensures that no unfamiliar vocabulary is skipped.
