YouTLDR is a web-based tool designed to rapidly extract the core content from any YouTube video. Users start by pasting a YouTube URL into the interface. The service then automatically generates a live, real-time transcript that follows the video’s playback — every spoken word appears on screen with a cursor that moves in sync. Clicking any line in the transcript instantly seeks the video to that exact moment. Beyond transcription, YouTLDR produces an AI‑generated summary of the video’s key points, each supported by a timestamped quote or evidence from the transcript. This summary can be exported as a standalone text or used to create a timeline of beats that appears directly on YouTube’s own progress bar, allowing viewers to jump between major sections. The tool also includes a chat function: users can ask natural‑language questions about the video, and the full transcript serves as the context for the answers, making it possible to query specific details without rewatching. YouTLDR supports over 125 languages for transcription, translation, and summarization. When a video is in one language, users can request summaries in another language — for example, transcribing a Spanish video and receiving a summary in English. The language selector is prominently placed, with common options like English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Indonesian readily accessible. A key use case is content repurposing. After obtaining the summary and key quotables, users can convert them into different formats with a single click: blog posts, LinkedIn updates, X (Twitter) threads, or slide decks.
