Amped Studio is a browser-based digital audio workstation (DAW) that enables users to create, edit, and produce music without downloading any software. The platform is designed for both beginners and experienced musicians, offering a full suite of tools for beat-making, melody composition, vocal recording, and audio mixing. Users can start a new project instantly by opening the website and selecting a tempo, time signature, and key. The interface provides a standard multi-track arrangement view where each track can hold audio clips, MIDI patterns, or automation curves. A built-in step sequencer allows quick drum pattern creation, while a piano roll editor facilitates note entry for chords and melodies. The software supports real-time recording from microphones or external MIDI controllers via WebMIDI, making it possible to capture live performances directly into the browser. Virtual instruments included cover a wide range of sounds: bass synthesizers, lead synths, pads, strings, brass, and percussion. These instruments are built with Web Audio API and can be modulated with envelope controls, filters, and effects. Additionally, Amped Studio supports VST 3 plugins, allowing users to load third-party instruments and effects if they have the plugin files on their local machine, though this feature requires a browser that supports the WebAssembly-based VST host.
