About this website

AppDynamics, now part of Cisco Systems following its 3.7 billion dollar acquisition in 2017, is an application performance monitoring (APM) and observability platform that provides real-time, end-to-end visibility into application performance, business transaction health, and infrastructure metrics. The platform differentiates itself through its Business Transaction centric approach: instead of monitoring individual requests, AppDynamics automatically discovers and maps business transactions (meaningful user interactions like login, checkout, search) and monitors their performance against dynamic baselines, enabling IT teams to correlate application performance directly with business KPIs such as revenue, conversion rates, and user satisfaction. Core capabilities include application performance monitoring for Java, .NET, Node.js, PHP, Python, Go, and C++ applications with auto-instrumenting agents, database monitoring with query-level visibility for Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and DB2, end-user monitoring for web browsers (Browser RUM) and mobile applications (iOS and Android), infrastructure visibility for servers, containers, and Kubernetes clusters, synthetic monitoring for proactive endpoint testing from global locations, and Business iQ for correlating technical metrics with business outcomes. Following the acquisition of Splunk by Cisco in 2024, AppDynamics has been integrated into the unified Splunk Observability Cloud portfolio alongside Splunk Log Observer, Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring (formerly SignalFx), Splunk RUM, and Splunk APM, providing a comprehensive full-stack observability solution. AppDynamics serves over 2,000 enterprise customers including Fortune 500 companies.
