About this website

The Automotive Industry Action Group, abbreviated AIAG, is a nonprofit association founded in 1982 by executives from General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler, now Stellantis, to develop standards and solutions for the automotive supply chain. Headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, AIAG serves over four thousand member companies across the North American automotive industry, including original equipment manufacturers, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, service providers, and logistics companies. The automotive supply chain involves tens of thousands of companies producing components ranging from powertrain and chassis systems to electrical and electronic modules, seats, interior trim, and exterior body panels. AIAG has developed widely adopted industry standards including the Materials Management Operations Guideline and the Global Transport Label, and has been instrumental in promoting the use of electronic data interchange, barcode and RFID technology, and quality management systems aligned with IATF 16949 requirements. The organization provides training and certification programs on supply chain management, product quality, corporate responsibility, sustainability reporting, and conflict minerals compliance under the Dodd-Frank Act Section 1502.
