CAFF Czech

ČAFF, the Association of Manufacturers of Generic Medicines based in the Czech Republic, is a professional organization representing Czech manufacturers of generic pharmaceuticals. Headquartered in Prague, the association brings together Czech pharmaceutical companies specializing in the development, registration, production and distribution of generic drugs that contain the same active ingredients as original brand-name medications but are marketed under their international nonproprietary names after the patent protection of the original drug expires. The Czech generic pharmaceutical industry serves a critical role in providing affordable medications for both the domestic Czech health insurance system and for export markets in Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union region, and increasingly in African and Asian emerging markets. The association advocates for policies that support timely market entry of generic medicines after patent expiry, fair pricing and reimbursement by Czech health insurance funds, streamlined regulatory approval procedures, and the recognition of generic drugs as a tool for sustainable healthcare financing.
