About this website
Decap CMS (formerly Netlify CMS) is an open-source, Git-native content management system designed for static site generators and modern frontend workflows. It provides a web-based editor interface with structured fields, rich text editing, and real-time preview, enabling non-technical content contributors to manage content without touching code. The CMS integrates directly with the repository, storing all content as files with full version history, branch workflows, and deployment checks. It supports all major Git providers including the platform, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, and self-hosted Gitea. Decap CMS works with any static site generator including Hugo, Next.js, Gatsby, Eleventy, Jekyll, Astro, and Nuxt. Key features include: editorial workflow with draft, review, and publish statuses, flexible content modeling with collections, nested structures, relation fields, and custom slug behavior, extensible widget system (string, text, markdown, image, file, select, list, object, relation, datetime, boolean, number, map, code), role-based access control, media library integration, and localization support. Configuration is defined in a single config.yml file. The project is independently maintained in Europe (Slovenia) under the MIT license, with Decap Turbo offering premium features like database proxy and centralized authentication.
