Dragonfly

Dragonfly is a drop-in replacement for Redis, Valkey, and Memcached that delivers 25x higher throughput with 2x lower tail latency on the same hardware, powering data-intensive workloads including caching, ML feature stores, vector search, job queues, and real-time analytics. On an AWS c6gn.16xlarge instance, the shared-nothing, multi-threaded architecture achieves 3,970,000 queries per second compared to 718,000 for Valkey and 148,000 for Redis, with P99 latency of 3.85 milliseconds compared to 7.86 and 9.21 respectively. Full API compatibility means zero code changes are required when migrating existing Redis or Memcached applications, including support for RedisJSON, RediSearch, and Bloom filter modules. For a 1-terabyte cache workload, monthly costs are 6,800 dollars on Dragonfly Cloud versus 17,082 dollars on Redis Enterprise, 19,269 dollars on ElastiCache Redis, and 15,415 dollars on ElastiCache Valkey, representing up to 80-percent cost reduction. Customers include Booking.com for hotel search infrastructure, xAI for ML model inference caching, Instacart for grocery delivery feature stores, Palo Alto Networks for security event processing, and Meesho for e-commerce session management. Dragonfly Cloud is a fully managed service with automatic failover and scaling, while Dragonfly Cloud Enterprise adds bring-your-own-cloud deployment, cross-region backups, and VPC peering. The open-source core is BSD-3-Clause licensed. New accounts receive 100 dollars in cloud credit.
