Easy Dictation

Easy Dictation is a web-based tool designed to help English learners improve their listening comprehension, dictation accuracy, and pronunciation through interactive exercises built around YouTube videos. Users start by pasting any YouTube video URL into the platform. The AI backend automatically transcribes the audio into text, even for videos without built-in subtitles, and provides translations in over 70 languages. This allows learners to immediately see the spoken words alongside their native language, aiding comprehension of unfamiliar vocabulary and sentence structures. Once a video is loaded, the tool splits the transcript into individual sentences. For each sentence, the user can control playback with auto-pause, meaning the video will stop after each sentence without manual rewinding or pausing. They can set the number of repetitions per sentence (from 1 to 5 times), enabling focused listening practice at their own pace. This eliminates the tedious process of manually scrubbing through a video to re-listen to a specific phrase. During dictation practice, the user listens to a sentence and types what they hear. After each attempt, the system provides instant, word-by-word accuracy feedback: correctly written words are highlighted in green, missed or incorrectly typed words are shown in red, and the correct transcription is displayed for comparison. This granular feedback helps learners pinpoint exactly which words they failed to catch or misheard, turning passive listening into active error analysis. For pronunciation practice, Easy Dictation includes a shadowing mode. The user listens to a sentence and then repeats it aloud, recording their voice. The AI compares the user’s pronunciation to the original speaker’s audio and highlights mismatches in phonemes, st
