About this website
EasyEffects (formerly PulseEffects) is a free and open-source advanced audio manipulation tool for Linux that provides real-time audio effects, equalization, compression, and processing for both input (microphone) and output (speakers/headphones) audio streams. Originally developed by Wellington Wallace as PulseEffects in 2017 for PulseAudio, the project was renamed to EasyEffects in 2021 when it migrated to PipeWire as its primary audio backend. Key features: PipeWire integration: EasyEffects is designed to work with PipeWire, the modern audio and video server for Linux, replacing the older PulseAudio-based PulseEffects. Audio effects: over 20 built-in audio effects that can be chained together in any order for both input and output streams: autogain (automatic volume normalization), bass enhancer (psychoacoustic bass enhancement), compressor (dynamic range compression with threshold, ratio, attack, release), convolver (impulse response-based audio processing using WAV files for room correction and reverb), crossfeed (headphone crossfeed for better stereo imaging), crystalizer (dynamic range restoration for compressed audio), deep noise reduction (RNNoise-based neural network noise reduction), deesser (sibilance reduction), equalizer (up to 32-band parametric equalizer with built-in presets and custom profiles), exciter (harmonic excitation), filter (low-pass, high-pass, band-pass), gate (noise gate), limiter (brick-wall limiting), loudness (ISO 226 equal loudness compensation), maximizer, multiband compressor, multiband gate, pitch (pitch shifting), reverb (gated or freeverb), and stereo tools (panorama, stereo width). Presets: save and load effect chains as presets, with a community preset repository. Community presets include headphone correction profiles for specific headphone models. Cross-platform: Linux only. GPL-3.0.
