Highlight

Highlight is an open-source, full-stack application monitoring platform that combines session replay, error monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, and dashboards into a unified observability solution. The platform records console logs, network requests, DOM mutations, and user interactions during each browser session, enabling developers to replay exact user journeys and understand the sequence of events leading to errors. The error monitoring system groups exceptions using customizable grouping rules, provides stack traces with source map support, and integrates with issue trackers including Linear, Jira, GitHub Issues, Slack, Discord, and PagerDuty through configurable alerting pipelines. The logging module is powered by ClickHouse for high-volume log ingestion and supports widespread SDK coverage across Node.js, Python, Go, Ruby on Rails, and edge runtimes with full-text search and structured filtering. Distributed tracing uses OpenTelemetry spans to visualize request flows across services, with flame graphs, waterfall views, and span-to-log correlation for root cause analysis. The dashboards feature provides customizable panels for performance metrics including page load times, Core Web Vitals, API latency distributions, and user analytics. Self-hosting is supported through Docker with a three-command setup using git clone, cd docker, and the run-hobby script for development deployments. The platform supports React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, Svelte, Gatsby, Express, Node.js, Go, Rails, and Hono with dedicated SDKs. Compliance certifications include SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, and ISO 27001.
